Colin Jackson was born between October and December 1896 in Wolstanton (probably Longbridge Hayes) to Agnes Jackson and her unknown husband. Agnes was born in Wolstanton.<\/p>\n

He had an elder brother Aly (Alfred) and a younger sister Ada. We believe Aly was a Porthill Scout (but have no confirmation) and he too was killed in the Great War.<\/p>\n

This picture 1<\/a><\/sup> was taken in 1913 at St. Wulstan\u2019s Church Longbridge Hayes.
\nIt is thought that all of the Altar Servers on this photograph were Porthill Scouts.<\/p>\n

Back row \u2013 Harry Shyrbottom, Colin Jackson, Bert Hind, Aly Jackson, Fred Holdford<\/p>\n

Other than the fact that he was an Altar Server at St. Wulstan\u2019s Church, the only other thing we know about Colin is that in 1911 he was employed as a mould runner in one of the local potteries.<\/p>\n

Aly and Colin Jackson 2<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Colin served in the Army as Private Colin Jackson\u00a0 42435, 2nd Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and died aged 22 on 5th October 1918. He enlisted as 327024 in the (Royal) Army Service Corps, but was transferred to the South Staffordshire Regiment on an unknown date.<\/p>\n

Colin Jackson was awarded the British War Medal and the Allied Victory Medal. He is commemorated and buried at Cologne Southern Cemetery, Germany, on the St. Wulstan’s Memorial and on our Memorial.<\/p>\n
