John was born in Stoke and Ethel in Wolstanton and it appears that Eric was their only son. The family lived at 27 Bennett Place, Bradwell. <sup class='footnote'><a href='#fn-552-1' id='fnref-552-1' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(552)'>1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eric went to school at Ellison Street and attended the Evening Institute there before getting a job at the Testing Office at Shelton Iron and Steel. He joined the RAF in 1935.He had been a Scout as a boy.<sup class='footnote'><a href='#fn-552-2' id='fnref-552-2' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(552)'>2<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/remember.porthillscouts.org.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/img178-Medium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"img178 (Medium)\" src=\"http:\/\/remember.porthillscouts.org.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/img178-Medium_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"img178 (Medium)\" width=\"116\" height=\"244\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Eric John Emery <sup class='footnote'><a href='#fn-552-3' id='fnref-552-3' onclick='return fdfootnote_show(552)'>3<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eric served as Aircraftman 1st Class, 524329, Eric John Emery in 226 Squadron of the Royal Air Force.
